Raducanu advanced to round three in three of the four Grand Slams this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to recover ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season.

These plans are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

She required blood pressure checks during her first-round match with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

She was also playing noticeably restricted in the final set against Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her at times this year.

Those results followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won twenty-eight matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
