Nearly 55,000 homes have so far been affected by the weather, with their possessions and dwellings destroyed.

Persistent rains over the recent period have worsened the precarious situation of the hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians in the Gaza Strip, as stated by aid groups.

"Awful" Conditions Creates Grave Threats

A representative characterized the recent storm as "horrendous", with precipitation so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"These conditions was truly terrible for the residents. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the gusts were so powerful," noted the representative.

Officials express extreme anxiety that young ones sheltering in temporary structures in wet clothing will contract hypothermia and other sicknesses.

Deaths and Significant Destruction

Health authorities have stated that one baby has passed away from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins caused by the harsh conditions.

Further statements suggest a greater death toll. Authorities reported that several residential buildings had fully given way and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by rains.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces inundated.
  • Many people required to relocate again.

Assistance Operations Seen as Not Enough

Agencies have escalated shipments of shelter, bedding and clothes after the halt in hostilities started, but they have said there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to bring in that aid and to distribute it, but the size of the necessities is so immense that we continue to see many thousands of individuals and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," warned one official.

Long-Term Challenges and Truce Provisions

The subsequent part of the truce encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of personnel, and other provisions.

Humanitarian organizations have underscored the need for "increased and sustained relief to meet urgent and ongoing needs."

The conflict was triggered by an attack in October 2023. Following military operations have resulted in a high number of lives lost in the region, according to medical data.
