Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
