The City of Angels experienced widespread festivities after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-game World Series championship. Supporters worldwide united with local residents in celebration, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a team has secured back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Attracts Massive Turnout
Local celebrations featured a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a reserved-seating event at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Social media videos depict countless of Los Angeles residents packing downtown streets, many displaying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the crowds, raising the championship trophy high.
“My focus is already about the next championship we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route ended at Dodger Stadium, where the players walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and Ice Cube cruising a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Early Celebrations and Athlete Responses
Celebrations began prior to the procession, with Dodgers fans setting off fireworks in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the MVP of the championship, commented directly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto stated. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Mixed Reactions and City Unity
In contrast, the team owner received a less warm welcome at the celebration. Video footage from the event appear to show Walter walking onstage to a mix of applause and boos, with jeers interrupting his address.
The World Series served as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated quarter-million people attended to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, supporters this year demonstrated as much if not more support.
“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he remarked. “These fans are crazy. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
