Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future after a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
