A female accused with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a recorded message which posed: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has consistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the court learned phone records and evidence recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test over the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported missing child cases and remains unsolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another voicemail, presented in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I believe what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail stated: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? Then what? Wouldn't that be important for you?"

"I don't want money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," the recording stated.

The jury was informed that via emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a DNA test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with Leicestershire Police who collated the data, informed the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally communicated with close associates of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will persist and I will prove my point."

The court learned the co-defendant established a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in that area in December 2024.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated via communication app to Mrs McCann to express the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the months before the trip to Rothley, that area, in December 2024.

The court heard message exchanges between the two individuals, in last November, considering endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from utensils at a dining venue.

"We have to take action," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the appearance to their residence, the defendant transmitted a text which stated: "We're currently sat adjacent to the McCanns' home with our headlights off similar to private investigators. I desired to accomplish this with another person I never thought I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
