The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed title that players explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing violence and madness with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, socially charged stories. Little surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' format by having a fresh setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their constant belief and support.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone program. Every title is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of people through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our shared bold, ambitious sensibility to the television.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
