The British government is ready to advance with using the full worth of seized Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They clarified that the initiative would be executed in tight collaboration with the US.

British restrictions have immobilized over £25bn of Russia's funds since Moscow initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had only been sourced from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward using the complete amount of the seized Russian sovereign holdings to halt hostilities.

He stated that additional sanctions over the next period would increase the strain on Moscow.

This statement comes after European Union officials met in Copenhagen recently to debate employing immobilized Russia's assets for a €140bn financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged international partners to confiscate or otherwise use seized Russian assets, according to media sources.

The total of frozen Russia's assets in the European Union is calculated to be approximately €211bn.
